Comedy duo John Mulaney and Nick Kroll announced on Sunday via Instagram that they are in a relationship.
Mulaney, 36, and Kroll, 41, have been comedy partners for years, best known for collaborating on their two-man play, Oh, Hello on Broadway, as well as on Kroll Show and Big Mouth.
Rumors surrounding the nature of the duo's relationship have been building for months on Twitter. Although they haven't commented one way or the other, Mulaney and Kroll have added fuel to the fire by sporting wedding rings during separate appearances on talk shows like Late Night with Seth Meyers, Jimmy Kimmel Live! and Conan.
The story came to a head on Saturday at San Francisco's annual Clusterfest comedy showcase, where Mulaney performed. Kroll apparently accompanied him there and the pair were spotted wandering the festival grounds with fellow comedians Adam Pally, Chelsea Peretti, and Jaboukie Young-White. Shortly after, photos of them canoodling began to circulate on Twitter.
One where Mulaney's arm is wrapped around Kroll's shoulders while he smokes a cigarette proved to be one of the more controversial images, with many fans noting that they were more "concerned" about the two-time Emmy winner's lungs rather than his relationship status.
But early Sunday morning Kroll seemed to confirm the rumors. Simply captioned "schmucks," the "Secret Life of Pets 2" star posted a photo on Instagram of the two standing close and smiling as Mulaney kissed the top of Kroll's head.
While fans are left wondering whether or not the two are actually married or just dating, they have received an outpouring of support.
"I am literally dying I luv [sic] my dads so much," wrote one Instagram user. "NICK KROLL AND JOHN MULANEY SAID GAY RIGHTS," championed another.
Mulaney was previously married to makeup artist Annamarie Tendler. The couple announced their split in 2018. Kroll's last public relationship was with actress Amy Poehler, whom he dated from 2013 to 2015.
Reps for Mulaney and Kroll did not immediately return our request for comment.
